NEWS & EVENTS
Registrations
September 9, 2017
The registrations will take place at the gym of the school (D. Roy Kennedy Public School, 919 Woodroffe Ave.) on September 9th, from 9:00 am to 11:30 am. The registration fees are $85 per students (for 3 children: $225)
Parents and students will have the opportunity to meet the teachers, pick up the textbooks and meet with other present classmates.
Hellenic School of Ottawa accepts children from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8 and it runs from September 16, 2017, to June 16, 2018.
Late Registrations
September 16, 2015
Late registrations will take place in the hall of the school close to the main office from 9:15-10:15 am.
Students who are registered on September 16th will be able to pick up their textbooks and head to their classrooms.
This is the first day of school and classes are from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm.
Hellenic Community’s 25th Annual Hike for CHEO
On Sunday, September 25, 2015 and join us to help kids at CHEO! Walk, run or bike the 5 km or 10 km route starting at our community centre and join us for the post-hike lunch and bake sale. It’s a fantastic day of family fun for a worthy cause!
The Hellenic Community of Ottawa has raised more than $500,000 for our children’s hospital. In recent years, we have purchased equipment and created a healing garden for families to enjoy.
Teachers, parents and students from the Hellenic School can contribute to this amazing cause of action organized by the Hellenic Community of Ottawa. The Blessing of the School Year will take place on September 30, 2017, at 11:30 at the gym of the school. We will be honored to have Father Alex Michalopoulos to bless students and teachers for the new school year. Parents are welcome to attend.

Σας καλούμε να συμβάλλουμε όλοι στο έργο της Φιλοπτώχου και να προσφέρουμε ζεστές πυτζάμες στα παιδιά της κοινότητάς μας. Οι οικογένειες των παιδιών αυτών αντιμετωπίζουν αρκετές δυσκολίες, όπως ανέχεια, εθισμό, οικογενειακή βία και ψυχολογικές ασθένειες. Μέσω του Pajama Drive θα μπορέσουμε να εξασφαλίσουμε κάποιες από τις συνθήκες για ένα πιο ζεστό κρεβάτι ύπνου.
"Ζευγάρι-προς-ζευγάρι": Δωρίστε ένα ζευγάρι πυτζάμας και η εταιρεία JD Swallow Heating and Cooling θα χαρίσει ένα άλλο ζευγάρι για κάθε δωρεά!
1. Οι πυτζάμες θα πρέπει να είναι καινούριες και αχρησιμοποίητες.
2. Οι πυτζάμες θα πρέπει να είναι ολοκληρωμένο σετ ή νυχτικό.
3. Οι αγορές των πυτζαμών θα πρέπει να γίνονται για παιδιά ηλικίας από τριών μηνών μέχρι 12 χρονών.
4. Μπορείτε να φέρετε τις πυτζάμες στο Κοινοτικό Κέντρο, ή στο Ελληνικό Σχολείο της Οττάβας.
Three Hierarchs Luncheon
January 28, 2018
The Three Hierarchs Luncheon which will take place on Sunday, January 29 at noon right after the liturgy at the Hellenic Community Banquet. The teachers of the Hellenic School of Ottawa will attend the Artoclasia at the church in the morning and it would be great for the students of our school to attend as well. Because the Three Hierarchs celebration coincides with the God Parents Sunday, God Parents can join their godchildren after church at the luncheon.
As you know, the Three Hierarchs Luncheon is hosted by the Parents and Guardians Association (PGA) and it is the main fundraising event for our Hellenic School. It is an opportunity to get together and celebrate the Three Great Teachers, Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian, and John Chrysostom. It will be an opportunity for all of us to admire our students' work which will be displayed at the hall of the Community Centre and, additionally, congratulate the students from the Hellenic School (elementary) and from the Credit Course who passed successfully the exams for the Attainment of the Greek Language Competence last year, 2017.We are looking forward to seeing you all there.

Οι εξετάσεις θα διεξαχθούν 15-17 Μαΐου 2018. Οι εγγραφές θα πρέπει να γίνουν μέχρι τις 18 Μαρτίου 2018. Σας παρακαλώ καταθέσετε την αίτηση συμμετοχής όσο γίνεται νωρίτερα για να προλάβουμε να καταχωρήσουμε τις εγγραφές μέχρι την απαιτούμενη ημερομηνία.
Για τις εγγραφές θα χρειαστεί να συμπληρώσετε τα ακόλουθα:

- Ερωτηματολόγιο:

- Φωτοτυπία διαβατηρίου
- Επιταγή στο: OCDSB International Languages, Greek exams
Μπορείτε να καταθέσετε τα έγγραφα για την εγγραφή στην διευθύντρια του Ελληνικού Σχολείου (katia.t.k@gmail.com) ή στη δασκάλα/στο δάσκαλο της τάξης του παιδιού σας.
The exams for the Certificate will take place between 15 to 17 of May, 2018. The registration for the exams should be completed by the 18th of March. Please, submit all required documents as soon as possible so we make sure that the registration process is completed by the above mentioned date.
For the registration you will need to submit the following documents:

- Cheque to: OCDSB International Languages, Greek exams

Greek Summer Camp
We would like to inform you about this year Greek Summer Camp (program similar to Los Amigos in terms of time and registration fees) which will be available to students from 5 to 12 years of age at Hopewell Avenue Public School during the month of July. Please note that we have been informed that, provided we have enough registrations, the Summer Program in the Greek language can run from 9:00 till 4:00. To ensure that this program will run please submit the registration form as soon as possible.
Otherwise, the deadline for the registrations for the morning program (from 9:00-12:00) is on July 4 (onsite registration). Apart from the Greek language instruction, students will engage in various activities and will immerse into the Greek culture and Mythology. Please, note that previous exposure to language is not required.
